Award-winning author, J.M. Coetzee has been knighted in the Order of the Dutch Lion by The Royal Civilian Order of the Netherlands
The two-times Booker winner and Nobel laureate has been recognised for his immense body of work, which includes such outstanding books as Diary of a Bad Year, Disgrace, Life & Times of Michael K and most recently Summertime.
Rarely awarded to someone born outside the Netherlands, the knighthood is a recognition of J.M. Coetzee’s efforts to promote Dutch literature and poetry. He received the award at last week’s Is this J.M. Coetzee? Festival in Amsterdam.
Our warmest congratulations to John.
