Here at Text we are super proud that our bestselling author Barack Obama—who also happens to be the 44th President of the United States of America—has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Before becoming consumed in the duties of office which would lead him on the path to the Nobel Prize, Obama gave us some exceptional books.

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes bequeathed by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel. According to Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize should be awarded to the person who: ‘during the preceding year…shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.’

President Obama was awarded the Peace Prize on 10 October. He will travel to Oslo in December to accept the Prize, and will donate the prize money of 10 million Swedish Krona (approx AU$1.7 million) to charity.
