Eva Hornung’s Dog Boy, published in March this year and shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, has been mentioned in a few of the 2009 round-ups.
The Canberra Times says: ‘The degree to which [Hornung] exercises her literary imagination is extraordinary, immersing herself completely within Romochka’s psyche, as well as the psyche of the entire dog pack…Dog Boy’s heartbreaking ending is difficult to forget.’
And in the Age on the weeked, Geraldine Brooks also picked Dog Boy as one of the best fiction reads of the year. ‘This is a wonderful, intense and profoundly moving book from a writer of rare gifts.’
