The NSW Premier’s Literary Awards celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Text is very pleased to announce that both Kate Grenville’s The Lieutenant and Helen Garner’s The Spare Room are on the shortlist for the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction.

This year, to celebrate turning 30, Arts NSW have introduced a People’s Choice Award. If you live in NSW, get online and vote now. Voting is open until 11 May, and both the Christina Stead Prize and the People’s Choice will be presented on 18 May, as part of the Sydney Writers Festival.

Obviously we are hoping for a tied result—the honour to be shared between Helen Garner and Kate Grenville. We wish both authors luck.
