Huge congratulations to our beloved author Shane Maloney, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ned Kellys last Friday. These awards are held each year by the Crime Writers Association, as part of the Melbourne Writers Festival.
Shane Maloney’s Murray Whelan novels have been entertaining readers here and around the world for years—ever since his debut novel Stiff became the first novel to be published by a fledgling Text Publishing back in 1994. Next year Text will publish the seventh, and last, of the Murray Whelan novels.
Shane was presented with his award by fellow lifetime achiever Peter Corris, and said it was an honour ‘to be in some kind of poorly maintained hall of fame, sitting round a Laminex table with the likes of Carter Brown and Peter Corris.’
Well done Shane, from all of us at Text.
