Today has seen an important development for ebook retailing in Australia. Independent bookstore Readings has launched the first eBookshop stocked exclusively with locally published titles. In collaboration with local software developer Inventive Labs and SPUNC (the Small Press Network), Readings is now able to offer Australian ebooks that are readable on any device, from phone to PC to dedicated ereader.

‘We’re thrilled to be the first independent bookshop in Australia to offer locally published ebooks to our customers,’ said Mark Rubbo, Readings Managing Director. He added that ‘we see this as the best ebooks solution as customers can simply browse and purchase ebooks, which can be read on any device with a modern web browser instead of being tied to a particular device.’

Now available from the Readings eBookshop are titles from a range of Text authors including Peter Temple, Kate Grenville, Shane Maloney, Kate Holden, Toni Jordan, Nick Cave and Madeleine St John.
