As if just completing a month on The New York Times Best Sellers list wasn’t enough, The Imperfectionists has now been optioned for film.

Plan B Entertainment, Brad Pitt’s production company, has optioned the rights. Plan B’s list of productions boasts such films as ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘The Departed’, ‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’ and the upcoming ‘Eat Pray Love’.

This is fantastic news for Tom Rachman’s wonderful debut novel, which charts the rise and fall of a newsaper through the personal (mis-)adventures of its staff. Rachman’s deft comic touch and empathetic writing creates a three-dimensional world free from charicature.

We can’t wait to see the film.
