John Ajvide Lindqvist’s Harbour, the third of his books to be translated into English, has been bought by Quercus in the UK. Both Text and Quercus are excited about publishing this new book in October, ahead of the release of the US film adaptation of Let the Right One In, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Australia’s Kodi Smit McPhee (most recently seen in The Road and Romulus, My Father).

Turkish rights to Matt Rubinstein’s A Little Rain on Thursday have been sold to Cakiltasi-Nemesis and French paperback rights to Steven Galloway’s The Cellist of Sarajevo have been sold to 10/18.

Madeleine St John’s The Women in Black has been bought in the UK by Little, Brown. And we’ve just acquired the fourth and final book by Madeleine St John, A Clear Pure Light, which we’ll publish in October this year.

We’ve acquired two Young Adult titles by Rae Mariz, the first being The Unidentified, a brilliant novel set in the future where corporations have taken over schools and students clamour to be branded and enjoy the associated benefits. That is until an underground resistance group decides it’s time to reclaim the notion of individual identity… We look forward to publishing The Undentified early next year.

We’re very excited to announce that we’ve acquired a big new book by Lloyd Jones: Hand Me Down World. The first novel Lloyd has written since the phenomenal Mister Pip, Hand Me Down World will be published in October this year and we’ve sold UK rights to John Murray. John Murray has also purchased UK rights to Lloyd’s most recent collection of short stories, The Man in the Shed, which they will release next year.
