Zac & Mia wins at the 2014 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards
- Betts has won the Ethel Turner Prize for Young People’s Literature at the 2014 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards for her YA novel Zac & Mia.
Zac & Mia, Betts' third novel for younger readers, won the Text Prize for Young Adult and Children’s Writing in 2012.
The judges of the Ethel Turner Prize said of Zac & Mia, ‘[it] is beautifully crafted and unselfconscious in style and language, and, without any hint of hyperbole, these characters become part of the reader’s experience and will live on in a reader’s memory. This is a novel that is completely accessible and appealing to its intended audience, the young adult reader. Zac and Mia is very well written, and will be very well read.’
